Other Activities

• Refrigerated liquid (“gable-top”) cardboard food containers were added to the mixed plastic waste collection stream.

• More Than Words Bookstore and Café continued their pick-up of the used books from the Swap Shed instead of disposing of them with the recycled paper.   The books are sold at their Bookstore/Café in Waltham. MA.

• The Styrofoam collection bin continues to be very popular.  The ReFoamIt Company from Framingham, MA continues to pick up the material when the bin is filled.   The large roll-off container is emptied about once a month.  The weight is not substantial but it has diverted a large volume of material from the trash containers which must be hauled to the incinerator for disposal.  The ReFoamIt staff held an outreach day in the spring to promote Styrofoam recycling.
