The WebMuseum was not made as part of any official or supported project. There's not grant behind that,
it is total pleasureware (tm).
Nine of our cameras (including the new Wild Dog-Cams) are in the Lowveld region of South Africa, which is in the north-east corner of the country. The Kwa Maritane-Cam is in the Pilanesberg National Park, which is in South Africa's North-West Province.
During the dry months (April to November) a variety of animals frequently visit the waterholes as there is a desperate shortage of water. Generally, most activity takes place around early to mid morning (6:00 to 11:30 AM GMT+2) and late afternoon (3:00 to 6:00 PM GMT+2) but game can be seen at all hours.
Remember, these cameras are not in a zoo, but within one of the largest unspoiled conservation expanses in the world and its animal inhabitants are free to wander over huge tracts of land. There are no guarantees that you will see animals when you look through our cameras, but when you do, you will see them as they should be seen - in their natural environment, on their terms
